Rich Gillum has a love for trees. There's hardly a street in Portland he hasn't visited to give a quote and share his expertise.

 

After dropping out of high school his senior year, Rich started logging and loved the work. At age 23 he was encouraged to start his own tree service. So in 1989 with a borrowed trailer and a chainsaw, Rich's Tree Service began.

 

It quickly became evident that despite his youthful enthusiasm, he lacked the necessary experience. So Rich studied to receive his arborist certification and took his service to a new level.

 

As soon as Rich's sons, Caleb and Josh were old enough they started working in the business and are now some of his top climbers. Now 5 of thier children work for the tree service.

 

It's been over thirty four years, and Rich is still passionate about trees and inspiring his crew each morning to be the best at what they do.
